Car Auctions: Auction History

Car auctions are venues wherein mostly (but not all) previously owned vehicles are sold using an auction system. While most nations have local auto auctions in different locations, most people often remain unaware of them. This is mainly due to the fact that auto auctions are a protected source for car dealers, and are closed to the general public. Thus, most of them are private auctions, although there are some that in varying degrees are open to the public. It was in the Middle Ages when King Henry V11 of England instituted a few of the earliest known auction laws. Some of these included auction licenses. Later, in the seventeenth century, works of art and collectible items were put on auction, which were commonly held in taverns and coffee houses. It was not long after that auctions became a widely-accepted manner of trade; especially in colonial America, where furs, tobacco, corn, and other necessities were sold. And now auctions have become part of the American way of living. They meet the buying and selling requirements of countless people, not to mention products and properties. At present, bidders at an auction have an opportunity to compete against each other equally, driven by their own interests. As many products can trace their origin to auctions, people from all walks of life are affected, in one way or another, by auction sales. Auctions are now well-recognized as an outstanding method to determine the market value a trade item, and to distribute goods, property, and real estate to individuals who value them the most. Since these are previously owned cars, interested parties need to gather information first in order to make the best possible purchase. A potential buyer needs to know the details of the car’s make, model, physical condition, and many other things, in order to decide which car would best fit his needs. Fortunately, such information on car auctions is available online. Alameda County Auction is a car auction open to the public, where private individuals can personally go to and view an array of vehicles that come from bank lease ends, fleet returns, county used vehicles, government agency vehicles, and more.
