Any licensed broker can take care of it. Approach the matter with some care; you can make a lot of money in a hurry — or lose it, just as quickly.

What is the best way to go about getting a better deal on a Carnival cruise?

I am going on a cruise in the next few months and will be calling Carnival directly about booking (along with talking to TAs and searching online). Obviously, I would like the best deal possible. What is the best way to go about asking for a better deal that what Carnival offers on their website (or deals offered on rival travel websites)? Anyone know of any tips/tricks that have worked other than playing them off one another? If anyone had good experiences with a Carnival rep, please feel free to pass along their name!

I have always cruised with Carnival and have never booked directly with them. These are the steps I take in order to ensure I have done all of my homework. Obviously, you can always call a Carnival PVP to see if they will match the prices.

1. Start out at vacationstogo.com. They have reasonable rates and it’s the easiest to see all of the ports and embarkation dates. They generally have good deals, but you can get it cheaper (also, note that their prices do not include government taxes, and the prices quoted are for guaranteed rooms).
2.Go to cruisecheap.com. THey will generally have better rates than vacationtogo.com.
3. Use the rate from cruisecheap.com to get a quote from beatanycruiseprice.com (The Cruise Line Ltd). They will beat that price!
4. Finally, go to cruisecompete.com; They will beat the quote from beatanycruiseprice.com. I still book with beatanycruiseprice.com, just because I trust them and they are SUPER nice.

Make them fight for you– the cruise industry is so oversaturated right now that most places will fight over getting a cruiser to book with them, and you will get a good deal. Do you qualify for special rates? You do if you live in a certain area of the US, you are military (active or retired), sometimes they will even give discounts for law enforcement and fire fighters, and have you cruised with them or any of their sister cruiselines (ie Costa, Princess, etc). Always ask about these deals if you think you qualify.

Let me know if you have any additional questions. I track cruise rates as a hobby, so I have a pretty good idea of what’s out there. Also, check out cruisecritic.com. They have really good forums with more advice on this subject, and great reviews of specific ships and ports of call, which will help you choose where you want to go.

Be very careful…who is “they”? Are you borrowing money on your home to pay off credit card debt? That is very risky because most people just use the credit cards again and end up even worse than before. If “they” is a debt consolidation, they charge hefty fees for that stuff, usually the first months payment on all your debts actually goes to the debt consolidation. Try not to use them if at all possible.

You can always sell it on Ebay. That will give you the widest possible audience for people who will want that laptop. You can sell it on Craigslist, but that is more targeted to your local area.

As far as Trade goes… considering why you don’t want it, you are not likely to be able to trade it for something BETTER, because something BETTER would be worth more… and people don’t like to trade what they have and lose out in the deal. I mean, someone with a gaming laptop isn’t going to trade it for a laptop that is less powerful. That would be foolish of them.

However, there are sites where you can trade what you have for other things. Sites like http://www.barterquest.com/

it depends on the manager. some don’t use leverage at all, while others are levered at more than 20x.

but leverage is dangerous – BSC was (overall) levered at a bit more than 20x, and look how it turned out for them. for this reason, the average manager is levered at less than 2.5x, (tops!) if at all.
